Development release version announcement

Posted on Sunday 13th April 2008 at 10:29 by Lee Allen

Now the foundations of the dynamic website software are in place and my online portfolio is progressing as a testing ground for the website software, I feel the alpha development is completed and I can focus on the beta version releases and announcements.

These announcements will begin in the form of blog posts with no specific frequency but rather a done when it’s done basis. Within each announcement I will update on the latest usability amends, bug fixes, and security issues. One of the main problems I will be up against is that I forget to log changes when I make them, especially the small aesthetic amendments.

The website software beta will begin as a closed beta development with testing limited to me (Lee Allen) and possibly some reliable bug testers in coming months - although the public releases are a long way off.

Hopefully ill have the next beta release out shortly but until then enjoy the current version, starting at a very suitable 1.01b. This includes the following recent changes which come off the top of my head as I fixed them on the fly.

Improvements to the dynamic website software

  • Improved the new line to paragraph (nl2para) function
  • Added ability to add custom “make a selection option” on drop menus
  • Simplified heading and title generation
  • Catch non existent section or pages
  • Client display refined to support no projects and/or description
  • Project applications, skills and languages query refined to increase speed
  • Added highlighting to selected snippet within code snippets
  • Moo.fx removed from gallery dropdown and replaced with show/hide toggle

Bug fixes and security issues

  • Fixed URL redirect error when search term is blank
  • Fixed URL redirect error when option menu default selected
  • Fixed .htaccess to allow the string “XML” to render in URL’s
  • .htaccess support for Google and Yahoo verification files
  • Enabled wrapping on long option menu titles
